Larry's Birthday

Did anyone else think that Charlotte sounded a lot like the girl in Ron's health class? The one who first drew the face on Sacky in "Big Bother"?

Finally got to see this one, right after the finale. If memory serves, she kind of looks like the flour sack girl, as well.
Larry certainly functions in his own frame of reference, kind of reminds me of the two guys who were in one of my physics classes. They ended up failing the class because they spent the labs working on space ships for some Star Wars role playing game rather than the experiments. As Mr. Miyagi might put it, one must have balance. This made the whole bit with Larry being deluded that Demontor's scheme was some sort of special birthday surprise that Kim had set up for him even funnier.

That's OK; we've all had our moments "in another frame of reference" at one time or another. My first year of college was in the fall of '77, right after the first "Star Wars" film came out. I got to discussing the movie with one of my classmates so much in our afternoon art class that the instructor frequently had to ask us to be quiet. :P

Sort of like going on a week long field trip into remote areas and discovering that most girls aren't as enamored with Monty Python as most guys are...

One of my closest friend's older son pulls kind of a Larry: we came in from fishing one evening and he started telling us about doing some really bizarre things in cars, which was intersting since he doesn't have a license and has never taken driver's ed (he's 20). Turned out he was talking about a video game. He's also prone to give out sweeping statments on topics military based on various shooters he plays (I want to see the semi that follows the characters around with all those extra weapons and ammunition, either that or the titanium hernia truss that the characters wear).

Never forget the guy who walks right behind the hero, handing him the gears, reloading his weapons, holding and reading the radar...
The funniest thing I came to read was "when the assault rifle was invented warfare became more about running around and killing as many people as possible". Well, that's not about Larry's Birthday. But it's scary what could happen if certain people could live the games they are into.

That, and some form of air-avoidance radar and speed regulators that cannot be overriden...would you trust some teens and adults in a flying car (I'm an equal-opportunity bad-driver realist)?

My nephew's 23, and as far as I know he still doesn't drive. Living in NYC there's just no need.

Gets moderately complicated. He is really hesitant to try anything he doesn't think he'll excel at on the first try, which causes my buddy endless frustration, he's very immature for his age and lived with his mother most of his life (divorce when he was very young). He has a tendency to expect everyone else to dothings for him.

We had a lot of fun with a life long New Yorker who took a job at the Texas Memorial Museum. She suffered from quite a dose of culture shock when she discovered that just going to the grocery store demanded a drive of several miles and that using public transportation could burn up most of the day. It's a good thing she didn't end up working in Alpine at Sul Ross.

I have some familiarity with Da City, having been sentenced to a nine month yard overhaul in Brooklyn and generally only used my truck on weekends when I didn't have duty. Went to Vermont and New Hampshire a lot to hike and Pennysylvannia to go shooting. Enjoyed the restaraunts, bookstores, plays and museums but got tired of NYC pretty quickly.
