Author Robert Jordan dies at 58

Sad news. Robert Jordan died of a rare blood disease.

He was the author of the fantasy series Wheel of Time. I really enjoyed the earlier books in this series, and remember how eager I was for the next installment to be published. Even though I gave up on this series after the 5th or 6th novel, I still have fond memories of how much fun I had reading his work.

A shame. I knew he was sick and getting treatment and that the series had been planned for twelve volumes. I didn't know he was that ill, however. I hope he left enough notes and writing that the last volume could be reasonably finished by someone. I have followed that series all the way through.
