    Where's the door?

I've been runing this thought though my head for some time now and I wanna know what others think. Can the location of a door in a room make a room feel bigger or smaller? Example. The house that we were looking at... the door was off to the far left side of the room, yet that made the room seem so much bigger even though it was actually only a foot bigger on each side compaired to the room I have now. The room I have now... the door is right in the middle and it makes the room seem so much smaller... why is that?

Question of perspective, a door in the corner causes one to look diagonally across the space and see it from the greatest distance, when it is in the middle of the wall, especially if it is the longer wall, the eye tracks in on the immediate area. kind of like looking up at the top of a building as oppossed to looking down from the top. Also one tends to lose more space to the entry area when a door is located in the middle of a wall.
I have seen the perspective trick applied to a number of things, including TV news, when filming things like riots. Get low and shoot at an angle across the deepest part of the crowd and a couple of dozen people look like a cast of thousands.

Well I think it all boils down to that old house saying... what's the three most important things about a house... Location, Location, Location.. In this case the door also need to have the same rule.
