As for your comment on the Enterprise's appearance under her own illumination, it reminds me of the first time I saw stills from the first motion picture - the way the ship was lit by her exterior floodlights sparked a similar reaction in me.
Season 1 is already available... however, they've decided to go high-end with it, and release it as a DVD/HD-DVD combo set, for the low, low price (yeah, right) of around $200.
Hold up a minute, as I searched for it - price break! $121.96 on Amazon.com! Granted, it's still pretty high, but it's a lot better than $200.
I'm still waiting for the broadcasts of "The Ultimate Computer" (early February) and "The Enterprise Incident" (early April) in particular, with these episodes' use of multiple ships on-screen (especially the former - seeing four Constitution-class ships in formation that aren't just four copies of the same shot of the Enterprise is going to be great!).

I'm watching "Fashion Victim" on DC. About half an hour ago I watched three large deer run side-by-side across my lawn.

Our intern, trying to keep from falling asleep and doing a faceplant into the keyboard. We're the only ones in the whole building.

Those three brought a new meaning to the phrase, "fast food."
Now on: the NY Philharmonic's New Year's Eve concert. They're playing The Sorcerer's Apprentice by Paul Dukas at the moment.

I'm watching a "Mythbusters" repeat. It's the episode where Adam and Jamie try to get a water heater to overheat so it launches like a rocket from the built-up water pressure.
I envy those guys; they get to blow things up for a living... :P

I watched a rather disappointing match between the Red Wings and the Blues... it was the first time Detroit's been shut out at home in a long, long time.
I'm currently watching Ninja Warrior on G4.

The knuckleheads down the street, shooting off fireworks, which, I suppose, means it's about time to wish everybody a Happy New Year. May 2008 bring you all the good things and good times that you desire.
Ham, black eyed peas (not the band) and cole slaw for lunch tomorrow (the Texans in the crew will understand, I don't know if this is done elsewhere). Time for a drink.

Well, I have a fine bottle of cabernet savignon, vintage 2004, and so I will wish every one at the Happy New Year and "SALUD!" to Lunchmeat. I'll join you in that drink.
