S4 episode that wasn't made

Kurt Weldon posted this synopsis of an 11-minute S4 episode that was never made at RSnet. Ron gets fitted for glasses and then the zaniness begins ...

(n.b. According to Kurt, the original plan had been for the last two episodes to consist of a 22-minute show and two 11-minute ones; instead, Mark and Bob came up with Graduation).

Ron has an astigmatism, and will need glasses (but not all the time.) So Kim goes with him to one of those glasses-in-an-hour places to pick out frames. Takes a few tries before he doesn’t look too much like either Elton John, Wally Cox, or Keanu Reeves in the dopier parts of “The Matrix.” In fact, they’re almost snazzy. “See?” Kim says. “Wearing glasses isn’t so bad.”

Smash cut: Gemini. Holed up in a dingy hotel room, with the rudiments of a tracking system/mini-command center. He’s been planning revenge against Ron Stoppable, who he blames for his most humiliating defeat. He’s been waiting for one thing before launching his plans, and apparently, it has arrived. “At last, Pepe! Ron Stoppable has finally gotten glasses!” And he contacts some unseen compatriots: “Now we make our move!”

One hour later, a newly bespectacled Ron emerges, looking… not bad at all. But just try telling him that. In his mind, he is one step away from wearing a flashing neon sign that reads “NERD.” It doesn’t help that as Kim & Ron stroll down the street, they encounter every bespectacled nerd we’ve generated over three seasons. Every one of them compliments Ron in a way that can only maximize his discomfort. (“Is that Stephen Hawking – wait, It’s Ron Stoppable!”) Abruptly, Gemini is there, with a couple of WEE henchmen. With nary a word, he grabs Kim! And she doesn’t even fight back, instead crying out for Ron to “do something!” Ron mounts a brief charge that gets derailed when his glasses are knocked off. As the bad guys carry away Kim, Ron complains that these stupid glasses have cost him everything he’s ever cared about. Suddenly, there is Ned looming over him: “Have they, Stoppable? Come with me…” Ned takes him to a secret command center underneath the Bueno Nacho. Ron’s impressed – but why is Ned showing him this? Ned explains that “an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us!” Turns out ‘us’ is Geek Force Five, a sort of bespectacled special force: Ned. Cousin Larry. Justine Flanner (okay, so she wears contacts.) Malcolm Whats-his-name. (Last seen as the Wraithmaster in “Virtu Ron.) Ron points out that’s only four. Ned tells him pointedly, “The fifth spot is open.”

After initial denial, Ron is kind of intrigued. This is a pretty cool HQ, after all, and he could use some help rescuing Kim. He’s in. And Geek Force Five is ready to roll, with nifty Geek Force uniforms, and specially modified glasses with cool weaponry built in. (One fires lasers, one has a freezing ray, etc.) With Wade’s help, they get a lock on Gemini’s location (the ruins of his old lair), and they mount their assault. Geek Force Five has unexpected resources that put them somewhere between Team Impossible and the X-Men – they have little trouble blasting and/or climbing their way to a confrontation with Gemini’s cohorts.

At this point, the WEE agents reveal themselves as all the loser villains from past episodes: Adrena-Lyn, Jackie the Jackal, Chester Yapsby, Falsetto Jones (not all of them need to speak. Maybe none of them do…) Ron is amazed – he wondered whatever happened to those guys. But how did they all meet? Gemini explains that they connected in the “I hate Ron Stoppable” Chat Room. Ron: "I have a chat room? Hey, KP – didja hear that – I have a chat room!” But there’s no time to bask in the glory (if that’s glory) – the fight is on. Geek Force shows a surprising level of combat skill (although Larry mostly slides into people.) But it’s not enough – one by one they are brought down until only Ron is left.

At last it comes down to Ron & Gemini. Ron is hampered by having to worry about breaking his new glasses – which is what Gemini had counted on all along. But when they actually get broken, Gemini’s triumphant sneer is cut short by Ron’s realization that he no longer has to worry about his glasses – he cuts loose, showing the sort of skill we normally associate with Kim. (Kim, tied up wherever, coos admiringly while this goes on.) Ron saves the day, saves Kim, saves his self-esteem. You name it, he’s saved it. “See?” Kim says. “wearing glasses isn’t so bad.” Of course, halfway through that sentence is a ripple dissolve to Ron picking out frames – the whole thing was just Ron’s daydream. With a wistful sigh, Ron takes the frames. One hour later, a newly bespectacled Ron emerges, looking… not bad at all…

Yeah, I had to do a double take when he mentioned that Kim got taken without any kind of a fight. I couldn't believe he wrote it that way until I saw it was a dream, then it made sense, especially with all the villains that showed up.:P

Not a bad episode script. I wonder what he called it.... ....."Eyes of the Beholder"?.... ....."Four Eyes"?.... ....."Geek Force Five"?..... ....:P

BTW, the full name of the Wraithmaster from "Virtu-Ron" is Malcolm Nevius.

Meh... the "dream" makes it a bit of a ripoff, but it certainly would've been better than "Chasing Rufus" or that evil babysitter episode.

The Geek Force Five reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons when Bart goes from one doctor to the next and winds up looking like a nerd.

While on the run from bullies, Martin reaches out from a locker and drags him in, and then proceeds to introduce Bart to a place where the nerds can work on their extra credit projects and what not. Good episode.

hmm..... I agree with TWD, the plot is interesting. I like getting snippets from the KP production staff about eps that might have been, but never made it that far. I think it would be quite enjoyable to see an episode where the minor and oneshot villains joining forces to take revenge on Team Possible for their defeats. And "Geek Force Five"? Everyone would get a lot of mileage making jokes out of that one!

Even so, if it were to have been made, I'd want it to have actually happened and not be just a dream. They've done the dream sequence already, and this would be too good of an episode to pass off as one.

The convenient thing about "dream sequences" is that they have no effect on the series canon. Writers can go in all sorts of different directions with the characters, without it becoming a hinderance to the show's overall development. Having Ron wear glasses for the remainder of the series would change the appearance of his character, and resulted in some confusion between the "before" and "after" episodes. Ned can also resume his role as a secondary character, and not be elevated to a "hero" or someone with skills on parr with KP and Ron. Still, it is a literary device that has become cliched, and I can't see using it more than once in a series (althought they pretty much used it in both "Rewriting History" and "ASiT").
