I've been flying all day. I've been in San Antonio for a youth conference. We left this morning at 10, and our first plane left at 12:45 and landed in Houston 40 minutes later. We then had a 2 hour layover in the airport, and I finally got home at about 6:30.

I've been enjoying some much-needed R&R, recovering from the daily grind of work, and in preparation for the next week (which includes a monthly meeting and a conference call on Tuesday).
I've actually been doing a little actual drawing as well, which includes a revival of my "Faction Files" concept (my idea of an evil KP), and making a few postings on my dA account.
All in all, it's been a productive, and relaxing, weekend.

I stayed home today; did not go to the birthday party my friends were holding for their kid (didn't want to deal with the little ones running around and raising havoc). I cleaned a gutter on our house, and put away my clean laundry.
At dinner tonight, something happened which kind of freaked me out. We were discussing cars our family owned, and my brother and I mentioned the 1978 Dodge Aspen wagon my mom owned from 1978 until 1987, when she replaced it witrh a new Ford Aerostar. Mom denied ever owning a Dodge, despite our reminding her of incidents we had while she owned that car. At one point, she asked, "Why can't I remember anything about that car?"
That worries me - I hope she's not coming down with Alzheimer's disease. My grandmother (Mom's mom) had Alzheimer's in the last years of her life; I know it can be hereditary. Mom's usually good about remembering people, places and events. For her to entirely forget about a car she once owned and drove on a daily basis - well, that's not a good sign.

You should take your mother to see a neurologist. As you probably know from your grandmother, current treatments can only delay the progression of Alzheimers, not prevent or cure. And the earlier you catch it the better it is treatment-wise, if it really is AD.
Luckily my mom was diagnosed early, but that was 8 years ago. She doesn't really recognize anyone anymore, and it's been a long time since she's been able to do anything for herself.
Why is everyone who drives slower than me an idiot, and everyone who drives faster a maniac?

My sincere condolences for your mother, canuck. You are correct. At the present time, there is no cure, and the medications can only delay the development of the symptoms. I see it fairly often in my practice as well.

Stayed home all day, except for a walk over to the nearby pond. This afternoon I updated to my iPod Touch to the new version 2.0 software. Now I have a scientific calculator instead of just a 4-function. Woo hoo, extra hoo.
Tonight Mrs. c and I are going out to dinner.

I've been a bit busy in the time I haven't posted here. I went to Mexico for a few days last week and had quite the time getting back due to delays. Then I've started my first job ever-I'm working at a camp for pre-school and Kindergarten-1st grade aged children. I'm a councilor in the 5-6 year old group and although I thought I wouldn't like it, I am liking it. They are so cute and funny. Younger children really do say the funniest things. This morning I had a conversation with two boys about lightning and ginger bread men. It's very entertaining....

I had a conference call at work today, but other than that, it's been fairly slow. I've actually begun working on a new fanfic - just the second one that I've started to commit to paper (or text file, anyway), and the first one I'm likely to actually post!
Things have stabilized a bit at work, as we're starting to settle into a routine, but I just know that's not going to last. We've got a move to a new building coming up next summer, and there are other organizational changes in the works. What's frustrating is when there's a point where there's nothing left for you to do but wait, and for the moment, I'm lodged right in that spot - I've prepared everything I can for the moment, and now I just have to hurry up and wait. Hence actually having time to work on my fanfic.

No work today, and life is strangely boring without children but much more relaxing. I was dead tired yesterday. Today I plan on doing some writing and such. Fan fiction, though I really should be writing my summer essays for school. But there is just...too many of them. And they're all boring.
