A different format for KP
I would like to get responses from the members and ask their opinions. I saw The Incredibles tonight on DC, and as usual I really do enjoy the PIXAR technology and the 3D animation. The movements of the characters were well done, and I could notice a lot of really neat things in the technique of the artists who created the characters.
It got me to thinking. If you could achieve that quality of animation like PIXAR does here (And really in any of their films to be honest), do you think a KP film could be done io this style and really fit the series itself? Would it still be KP enough to work? The more I watch that movie, the more I think it could work. Anyway, What do you all think about it?

I'm not sure it would. Part of "Kim Possible's" success as a TV show lay in its unique artistic style. And I've seen quite a few instances where producers (or meddling network executives), in the process of "improving" a show, change some important part of its premise only to ruin it completely. When they changed the shows, something "got lost in the translation," so to speak, resulting in the programs losing their audiences and quickly getting cancelled.
Those producers and execs failed to heed a very important maxim: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I understand what you're saying, TWD. But what if that unique artistic style could be captured in the PIXAR format? The intent would be not to change anything else about the show. In other words the style of movements of the characters would remain the same. So would their facial features, their little quirks, all of that which is unique to the original 2D animation. What if all of that could be preserved, but in the 3D format? What you say is true about other shows, but look at Buzz Lightyear. Would you say that his 3D depiction in "Toy Story" and his depiction in his televsion series were that far out of sync with each other? I guess we should go back and watch "Toy Story" again and compare it to the series, if only it were still running......I just wonder if one made the very concentrated effort to get it just right, would it be possible?

I've seen the "Buzz Lightyear" series, and I agree with you that they did a good job on translating him from 3-D to flat animation. But, speaking from a purely subjective point of view, I think a Pixar-style "3-D" Kim would take some getting used to - it would still be different from the original series, even if the animators managed to successfully convert KP's artistic style to that "3-D" format. IMHO, it just wouldn't be the same.

I'm kind of with TWD on this. I think it would take a lot of getting used to. If tha was the only change, i.e. the color palette and other important parts of the "look" stayed the same, and if the stories and characters were convincing, I'm sure I could get used to it in time.

They have several figures, not just Kim, dancing the same moves, so the animation was the same, just applied to different models. What I had in mind was that the treatment of Kim would be more personalized to her own style as per the original show. There were certain ways she always moved, always done to a certain timing, that could be replicated more exactly. Doing that would achieve the preservation of her onscreen persona, make her recognizable as the Kim Possible.

There some real similarities in the background work between KP and The Incredibles. Keeping the 'feel' of the background and character work would be a snap.
I broached the subject years ago, and was roundly hissed at for my suggestion. I said at that time that the only way KP could survive and thrive for the length of time it deserves would be to make the jump to 3D.
The primary effect of a computer-generated 3D series would be to make Kim's acrobatic moves truly eye-catching and arresting.

It's a bit clunky, but there's the 3-D between levels animation in the "What's The Switch" video game.

I haven't seen the video game footage, but I know what you mean about making the action footage truly amazing. However, as you would see with The Incredibles, the very fine control of the characters' facial movements and expressions, as well as the timing of their movements also is very important in defining the characters, or in this case with KP, in keeping their original characterization.
