Indeed. But a theoretical physicist?! My word, it'd be one thing if it was an engineer, but a theoretical physicist from Berkley?! Wasn't Chu involved in that Bio-X(?) program? A lot of scientists with different backgrounds working on major issues like climate change and alternative energy. Chu also had done stuff with biofuels and solar power. Originally Posted by Cody MacArthur Fett
All this just to say that Chu isn't just a bench scientist -- he has experience in other areas including green tech and managing a disparate group of people. I'd guess this in part is what Obama likes about him for Energy.
