I'm currently catching up on today's episode of the Jim Rome Show. Today marks the end of the "Rex" streak - twenty consecutive shows, from February 11 to March 11, with a guest named Rex:
(from jimrome.com)
#1 2.11 Rex Chapman (Denver Nuggets)
#2 2.12 Rex Ryan (N.Y. Jets)
#3 2.13 Rex Hudler (L.A. Angels)
#4 2.17 Rex Walters (University of S.F.)
#5 2.18 Rex Lee (Actor "Entourage")
#6 2.19 Rex Peters (UC Davis)
#7 2.20 Rex Hoggard (TheGolfChannel.com)
#8 2.23 Rex Kalamian (Sacramento Kings)
#9 2.24 Rex Richards (MMA Fighter)
#10 2.25 Rex Tucker (Former NFL'er)
#11 2.26 Rex Ecarma (Tennis Coach at Louisville)
#12 2.27 Rex Harnot (Cleveland Browns)
#13 3.02 Rex Morgan (Fomer NBA'er)
#14 3.03 Rex Grossman (NFL QB Free Agent)
#15 3.04 Rex Hughes (Former Pro/College Basketball Coach)
#16 3.05 Rex Kern (Former Ohio State Buckeye)
#17 3.06 Rex Brown (Rockstar Bassist)
#18 3.09 Rex Norris (CFL Coach)
#19 3.10 Rex Kendle (College Wrestler)
#20 3.11 Rex Walheim (NASA Astronaut)
(February 16th was a day off for Rome, as the show was guest-hosted by Jay Mohr, so it's not counted in the streak.)
The streak started rather inadvertently, after the first two guests were interviewed; after announcing that Rex Hudler (who's a legendary recurring guest on the show) was going to be on the next day, a caller noted that they had a streak going, with three people named Rex in a row. Jim decided that, while the first three had been a coincidence, he'd try to continue the streak on purpose.

Too bad Rex Harrison is no longer among the living.
(Coincidentally, I just listened to Julie Andrews and Mr. Harrison in the Broadway cast recording of My Fair Lady earlier this evening.)

Richard Burton and Julie Andrews as King Arthur and Queen Guinevere in Camelot. (The original Broadway cast recording, also starring Robert Goulet as Sir Lancelot and Roddy McDowell as Mordred, of course. )
This 1960 musical was scored by Frederick Loewe, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner.

I'm feeling like a little bit Beastie right now... so I'm listening to "Intergalactic" by the Beastie Boys.

I got tired of listening to the same old stuff on my car stereo while driving between work and home, so I dug out CDs of some of my old favorites. Today, I listened to ABBA's final album as a group, "The Visitors," released in late 1981. It's been years since I last played that album, and it felt good to listen to it again (even if it was the band's last effort).

Yuji Ohno - "Theme from Lupin the 3rd '78 (2002 version)"
This mostly straight-up remake of the first theme of the second Lupin the 3rd anime is pretty much the standard version of the theme now, although "Theme from Lupin the 3rd '89", which is a pretty catchy version, also still gets some use in the recent specials.

Gwen Verdon, Ray Walston, Stephen Douglass and the rest of the original Broadway cast in Damn Yankees, a 1955 musical with songs by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross.

Get your chin up off the floor
Mister you can be a hero
You can open any door, there's nothin' to it but to do it
You've gotta have heart ♫
