I mowed my lawn today on my newly repaired mower. I liked having a service do it for the last couple of weeks, but didn't like laying out the $$$ so much.

Just now I had a phone call from my daughter in Boston. She's quitting her job at a PR firm and will be going back to teaching, at a tech-oriented school.

While driving between the office and home today, I was playing Disc 1 of "The Essential Billy Joel" in my car stereo.

Personally, I find it much easier to work on a story when I have some instrumental music playing. For whatever reason, if the music has vocals, I find myself getting distracted when I try to sing along -- even if the words are so well known that I could sing along with the song in my sleep. Instrumental music (jazz, classical, ambient) is just more effective at freeing me up. As of late I have been listening to the jazz/fusion/funk of Miles Davis from the early seventies.

Currently listening to "Re-Education (Through Forced Labor)" by Rise Against. I'd thought it was an angry relationship/breakup song ("We crawl / on our knees for you / We sweat / all day long for you") but after listening closer and reading the lyrics, I'd found it's instead an angry revolution song... Rise Against in the literal sense.

Sure.

I'd considered going to the Air Force Academy for a while, but eventually decided it wasn't the optimum place for me.
