Saturday Night Live
Do you all watch it?
I watched it a few years ago and recently got back into it when they did their Presidential Election skits. I loved Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, and Amy's rap for Palin. And then there were their 'Presidential Debates'.
But in general, I'd have to say that my favourite part of SNL would be Weekend Update. Now that Amy's left, Seth Meyers is doing it alone. That desk is really big for one person...

I watched it regularly a long time ago. I've only seen clips of the more recent SNL -- as you said, Tina Fey as Palin was great. My favorite was the interview with Couric; what I thought was the funniest was that Fey's lines were often taken verbatim from what Palin had actually said.
Why is everyone who drives slower than me an idiot, and everyone who drives faster a maniac?

I'm old enough to remember watching the original SNL when it first came on TV with Jim Belushi, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, and the rest of that first crew. I only watched for about three seasons when most of those guys left. It never seemed as good after that.

I have to wonder if that recent video of Mrs. Paulin with the turkeys wasn't some ironic SNL skit in disguise....

Eh, never really cared for it. I've seen a few sketches and haven't been that impressed. Especially after Chevy Chase did that interview in which he said that the cast did everything possible to try and swing the election for Carter back in the 70s, and that that's what they're most likely doing right now. Besides, I've never really known when it was on, and even if I did I'd probably ignore it - never liked "fake news programs".

I think you mean John Belushi. Jim Belushi, John's brother, didn't join the SNL cast until 1983, staying with the show until 1985. But don't feel bad; I'm sure other folks have confused Jim with John, as well.
And yes, I too remember watching SNL regularly in those early days. Those folks made me laugh so hard with some of their sketches...
It's hard to believe that was over 30 years ago.
Lord, where does the time go??
You're right. I meant John Belushi. I was just so used to seeing his younger brother's name.:P

That's OK; Jim Belushi's turned out to be as good an actor as his brother was.
If only John hadn't died back in '82; that man could get laughs with just a quirk of an eyebrow...
