    Thieves and Liars.

I know it's probably not shocking to learn how low people are... but I found a new low today. Some Looser, theif and Liar stole art work from my dA page and claimed it as his own on youtube. I'm still not sure how I found it But, I'm glad i did... I filed a copyright claim with youtube and hope to get it at least removed. For me as an artist... for someone to steal a picture and claim it as there own is like a slap in the face.... but this looser took 5 of my piece that took me probably 20 hour or more from start to finish to draw... I put my heart into this work and it just scooped up and claimed... it really puts me in a funk.. I dont even wanna draw anymore cause of this.

    Man that sucks, bro...

I guess if there's anything positive that can be said about this, it's that your artwork was of a high enough quality that someone found the need to pass it off as his/her own to make their own non-existent talent look better.

I guess I could look at it that way... Now I wait for the Youtube people to take action to at least remove the video. I'm also giong through and watermarking and re-uploading the pictures so it will make the whole process easier when making a claim. Hopefully with the watermark... it will deture them from stealing them all together.

Sorry to hear about the theft of your artwork, Cloud. Here's hoping the YouTube folks help you by removing that video. You're doing the right thing by watermarking your pictures from now on; as you said, that should discourage them from swiping your work.
Just don't let this bad experience make you quit drawing - you have talent, and I'd like to see you use that talent to its fullest in the future. I urge you to keep drawing; that's the only way you're going to improve and grow as an artist.
Good luck and keep us posted on what happens, OK?

So far Youtube and there stuipidity pretty much run wild. here's the reply i got from these idiots.

    Hi there,

Thank you for your notification. For YouTube to remove a video based on a
copyright complaint, you must specify the copyright and the work allegedly
infringed. Please respond by explicitly describing the copyrighted work
that you allege has been infringed. The description you have entered is
either inadequate, does not apply to the allegedly infringing content, or
is invalid for the copyright infringement complaint that you are
    submitting.

    Regards,

    The YouTube Team

Maybe give them a bit more concrete evidence... something they can actually use to link the images to you. Try sending them the links to the artwork on your deviantART profile. Playing devil's advocate here, whoever reviews this stuff on YouTube needs to make sure you're not just trying to have it removed out of spite. Give 'em the links to the original artwork... they'll see that the dA profile name matches the email you sent the petition from.

    Maybe something like this...

Describe the work allegedly infringed: The video linked below, posted by user ssj3cody on May 29, 2008, features five original pieces of artwork stolen from my artist profile on deviantART.com. These pieces of artwork were drawn and posted in May of 2005, well before ssj3cody posted his video to YouTube, and you can verify original ownership of these pieces of artwork by checking the links provided below. YouTube user ssj3cody does not have my permission to use these five pieces of artwork in his video, and I request that you remove it.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation,

    Joseph Smith
