    Season Box Sets Offer

This is an offer to our more regular members here on the GJA, and will be available to all GJA members in good standing who are at least regular members or higher (Minimum 100 posts).

I am able to buy the Season One and Season Two box sets from Amazon.de in Germany. Of course, so could you, if you can navigate the web site (which is not all that hard in German, really, especially if you already know the layout of Amazon's web site design anyway). The difference with this offer is that the probelm with getting the German Box Sets is that they are region two restricted and not playable on DVD players in the United States. Now that could be fixed by using a special code to convert your own DVD player to play region two, (either free standing or in a computer) although that would probably void any warranty on the player, and not allow it to play regular region one DVD's, and of course you are limited in changing the playable region on said DVD players only four times, after which it is locked into the last change you make on it. One option is to buy one extra DVD player and permanently leave it as a player for region two, but then that involves the cost of buying another DVD player.

What I am offering is that if you buy the box sets that I order (They will be at cost. I will not make any profit whatsoever from this, as that would be illegal. I do it purely as a service to the members here at GJA), I will include a set of archival backup copies that I can create, again at no cost to you, since that is also illegal (It violates copyright law.), which are exact copies of the original disks, but have the region restriction removed, so that you can play them now on your DVD players without problems. This is allowed as standard practice will let a consumer to make a backup copy of copyrighted software for safety purposes in case the original disk is lost or damaged, as long as it is for personal use only. As long as the original disks are clearly purchased legally, this gives the owner the license for the backup copies, but again only for personal use.

The advantage of this is that you'll be able to view all the KP episodes of seasons one and two in all their original glory without degradation of video, pop ups, watermarks, and all the other annoying problems with material recorded straight off of broadcast.

So, the offer is there for those who want to pursue owning the box sets. PM me if you are interested.

    Sorta off topic, but...

I'm actually in the market for a new DVD player. I may actually be going to Europe this coming summer. So wouldn't it be better in the long run for me to get a region-free DVD lpayer (I assume regular DVD players are cheap anyway, what with blu-ray and all), and then get the season sets when I'm in Germany?

You can do that, though you still have to get the Box sets in any case, of course. And region free DVD players are not yet that widely sold. Only certain players will do this. Just because some players are new and may have blue ray doesn't mean they'll be region free. Check out the follow link:

If you want to get a region free player first, by all means you can. I was just offering the option that if you want to get the box sets now without having to get a region free player, my option will allow you to do that.

Personally, I think with jeriddian's offer you're getting a better deal. Not only are you getting season's 1 & 2 at cost, but jeriddian will also provide you with a region-free archive at no additional charge. Like he said, a back-up copy should something unfavorable happen to the original set.

It's completely up you naco, of course, but considering what's being jeriddian's offering, I'd take this one over buying it commercially.

You realize that the above sentence makes no sense.
You might want to edit it for clarity...
    (Just a suggestion...)

Thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes my brain thinks faster than my hands can type. Plus the fact that it's getting late doesn't help things...

No big. I'm not exactly the world's greatest typist either; my fastest speed to date is maybe 35-40 words per minute. And I also tend to get sloppier the later I stay up to post, so don't feel bad, my friend.

Can I ask you a question, jeriddian? What are the audio tracks included in the box set? Is it just German and English?

Having gotten the first two box sets myself, I can tell you that the tracks are in German, English, French, and Spanish.

I know I'm not jeriddian, but hey, it was a question I had the answer to...
