    Happy Fourth of July, America!

Today's also a personal anniversary for me. On this date in 1970, my family moved into the house we presently own, out in the far western suburbs of Go City. The house we used to own, in the near western 'burbs, had been our home since the summer before I was born in 1958.

We had a party at a neighbor's house and had a grand time setting off mortars from South Carolina. Given the noise and frequency of the shots, it appears the police simply did not care that evening.

Well, not actual military mortars. Though they were still really impressive - 3" shells from South of the Boarder.

Well, that's still pretty impressive. I didn't get to play with any big stuff until I hit Fort Riley during my Texas A&M days. But then 90 mm recoilless rifles (even if they were antiquated back then), and M2 cal. 50's were fun to play with.
