How was your day? The 13th part

Well, time to start another thread. I spent the day helping out with things in Houston. I also made some more music on the computer. Basically having a fairly good time. I go back to Midland Sunday, and back on call.....

Went back to school today. Having been the only school not in session yesterday, we were paid back by being the only school in session today. But no one was really willing to do anything, since we have a four day weekend. I did get some good news in the mail. And a passport.

One of the stranger things that happened today was that one of the students pulling out of the school got hit by a bus pulling in. A small bus. I don't know how the bus could have possibly hit her car, since visibility is perfect and the school entrance isn't small, but it did. The car didn't look too bad, and the girl is fine. But still. How on earth does that happen?

I am completely ready for this four day weekend. There's nothing planned, though we might take a ski trip soon and I have an eye-doctor appointment on Tuesday. But other than that...

I finally got back home from my vacation. Driving home on I-95, I accidentally missed the turnoff for the NJ Turnpike and ended up on a side trip through Philadelphia — which was good, because I was able to catch a glimpse of the funnels of SS United States, the greatest American ocean liner of all time.

I've been to Philidelphia to to tour the USS Olympia a couple of times, unfortunately Bookbinder's lobster house closed awhile back, so I'll have to find another venue for lunch.

Nice lazy day here, it's sunny out, so I'm about to venture forth and relieve my cabin fever a bit. With a bit of luck I'll have an extra vehcile to keep at home, so I can fly down on long week-ends to look at something besides the East coast.

I suppose I should carry on the original source of today and stone some itinerate street preacher to death and decapitate him. Meantime, a pleasant Hallmark marketing day to all of you.

I suppose that would depend exactly on what he's preaching. It definitely sounds like you have cabin fever, though I would suggest a less irreversible method of relieving it. Methinks we need to get you back to Texas ASAP for some well deserved R&R.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Though it might not be so happy for everyone. I did get some benefit out of it, though, since it gave me an excuse to make chocolate strawberries. I do love chocolate strawberries. Although strawberries do get a strange reaction out of me--I'm not sure if it can qualify as being allergic, though. My aunt is allergic, but she's not blood relation, and her allergic reaction is a lot worse (so I've heard.)

It was a pretty relaxing day, though. As I'm sure tomorrow will be. And then comes the rest of the week.

I think you're right, unfortunately the next available windiw is in July. Just having it warm up enough to resume outdoor activities would help. I've done winter camping in the past, but around here it's mostly just wet during normal winters, which isn't much fun. If I was out around th Sierras or Rockies (even the Bullwinkle's) I'd be much more interested. As I said, once I have an additional vehicle, either another four wheel drive pick-up or an additional four wheel Jeep, it makes life a lot easier. Southwest has pretty decent fares to and from here.

I just finished a three-day weekend because the mail room I work in was closed today for Presidents' Day (no mail service, as you know)! I spent Saturday running a few errands, making a couple of purchases (including the latest Honorverse book, Torch of Freedom by David Weber and Eric Flint) and just enjoying the sunshine. Sunday I did my laundry and just relaxed around the house. Today I ran a few more errands, tying up some loose ends vis-a-vis paperwork for my employers at the temp agency; then stopped off at Borders to make another book purchase. I'm just about ready to go back to work tomorrow, although I'm not looking forward to getting up at 5 AM once again (yuck).....

I shoveled snow from my driveway — twice.

Then I went out to the library to return a book and the post office to pick up the mail that was held during my vacation.

It's hard to believe that Spring is barely a month away. I'll b glad when it warms up enough to work out in the driveway, sans snow, again. In the course of building bookcases over the week-end, I have conclusively determined that running a router in the house is a bad idea. There's sawdust and wood chips everywhere.
