I caught most of the first episode (missed the first 6 minutes) - I liked it! The animation looks good, and the voices sound close to how the characters did in the movie. Are they using the same actors for the leads? Like everyone else, Cartoon Network shrinks the closing credits down into a tiny box so they can run their usual pushy ads for other shows on their network - a practice I deplore.
I'm looking forward to next week's episode - provided I remember that it's on....

Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera are playing Hiccup and Astrid as they did in the movie, and T. J. Miller and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also recreate their roles as Tuffnut and Fishlegs, but everyone else is different. I think they had to have those two main characters remain with the original voices. The others are very close, I must say, except you can clearly tell Stoick's new voice doesn't sound like the original Gerard Butler at all. In any case, I agree. The animation is good, and this first story was pretty good. Obviously it's aimed at a slightly younger audience than the movie, but it works pretty well, I think. I'm looking forward to contuining with it. And of note, Mark Hamill voices a character called Alvin the Treacherous. I don' think this character has appeared yet, and he is brand new to the world of Berk's Dragons.

Mark Hamill, huh? Cool! I know he's done other VO work in animation, most notably his role as the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series back in the early 90's, but this comes as a surprise to me! Of course, I'm sure he'll do a fine job. Now we just have to wait 'til we meet his character.
