How Was Your Day? #16 In A 4-Issue Limited Series

Well, we've reached the limit on the current "How Was Your Day?" thread, so I might as well start another one.

Today I took a phone call from an agency that first called me late Friday about a clerical job in downtown Go City. This was a follow-up call to their e-mails I replied to that evening, in which I sent them my current resume. The agent asked me some more questions about my work experience, then told me he'd be forwarding my info the the client company to look over. So at least I've got that iron in the fire (so to speak), job-wise.
After folding and storing my clean laundry, I did some shopping this afternoon. Among the things I bought: some new ink cartridges for my printer (I'm running low - especially on black). I changed the black ink cartridge tonight, but I'm going to wait until the others run out in order to get the most out of my ink supply.
And while checking my e-mails for job offers tonight, I ran into a most fascinating job offer.
In the description of the job (what they called a "job snapshot"), they listed the following:

    Manages Others: Not Specified
    Job Type: Admin - Clerical
    Experience: Not Specified
    Required GPA: 0
    Position Starts: 1/1/1970
    Post Date: 2/9/2013

Apparently, there's some time travel involved here, if I'm reading this right....

I'm sure, just in case it a Dalek trying to hire you. Then you can make a quick getaway.

I've had bosses with very Dalek-like personalities on past jobs. You know the type: very insistent when giving orders: "You will obey - you will obey - YOU WILL OBEY!!"

I'd be a little hesitant about a job that had been open for 43 years, I'd have to wonder why (unless maybe it's some kind of Last Starfighter type recruitment tool)...

And which video game would be involved this time?

Tetris (or any other game that involved sorting or arranging objects quickly) springs to mind.

Unfortunately, there weren't any video games (arcade or home version) around in 1970 - and I really can't see some alien recruiter using a pinball machine to test candidates' skills at flying a star fighter!

    Getting back on-topic:

The only things I did today were: I changed a light bulb in our kitchen fixture; finished loading the dishwasher (ran it after dinner); and brought the groceries in when Mom came home from the store. Other that that, zero. Zilch. Zip. Nada.
What was the line from that old Freddy Fender tune? "Wasted days and wasted nights...."
    - How very fitting in my case....

The 1/1/70 thing, looks like somebody reset their system before posting that entry, and it reset to day 1 of the Unix epoch, which is exactly that date. I saw it on older printer models that got rebooted but had manual date entry, although the time zone data remained intact, so it showed up as starting up at 7 PM, 12/31/1969.

Anyway... I'm amused that you decided to keep the thread-naming gag...

I've been offline the last few days, aside from briefly checking in from my dad's computer yesterday, as my internet service was knocked offline. But, that's been fixed, so I'm back.

Other than having to spend hours on the phone with the ISP, and waiting on service calls, it's been a quiet few days, as I'd taken Thursday and Friday off from work. Didn't quite go as planned, of course, and plans for today had to be cancelled because of my service call.
