I really enjoyed his short story Turnabout.

True; can't let the good stuff go to waste like that, now can we?

I uncovered a real find while cleaning my basement just now — a mouse pad printed with a list of tips for users of Windows 3.1. Think that may draw some bidders at the auction of MiL's old stuff (which we are supplementing with some of ours)? Maybe our admin still has an old unit that could run 3.1?

Wow. Last time I was on Windows 3.1 was... well, 2000, actually. This was when I was only getting online via the local library or at my sister's house; I didn't have a "modern" computer until that spring (and then it was running Win98SE).

Well, since I like to work on ancient computers, I actually do have a couple that run WIN 3.1. But most of them are stuck even further back on old MSDOS, usually versions 3.1 through 6.22, circa 1983 or so. These computers could run WIN 3.1, even the old 286's, although it would be terribly slow.

That's OK - I recently got rid of a college textbook I had for a computer course in college back in the late 90's. Its title? "Introduction to Windows 95." I don't know why I held onto it for so long after it became obsolete, but I did! Rather than try and sell it, I just tossed it into the bag full of newspapers and magazines to be recycled.

I've found this little piece of history while browsing YouTube for something completely different:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhETI8Aun-4

This is a radio recording of a New York Giants vs Brooklyn Dodgers game being interrupted by the "breaking news" about the attack on Pearl Harbor.
This recording gave me goosebumps when I heard it.

Even though the scene in this clip is over 70 years old (it's from Chaplin's "The Great Dictator") I think that this is definitely one of the greatest speeches ever made:
