The British could sure use him now. So could we.

Also, the Battle of Midway. I knew some of the men who flew in it, when I was a kid.

Thursday's also the first anniversary of my starting my current temp job. Hard to believe I've been working there a whole year now - especially since I didn't expect the assignment to go past September or October, at the most!
And I still have a long way to go on the current project I'm doing for them....

In honor of the final end of the Napoleonic Wars, I think I'll dig out my DVD of Waterloo, tonight.

I ran across a discussion, in the Smithsonian magazine that had a different take on the battle. The author felt that the entire war of 1815 had been forced on Napoleon by the Alliance out of fear, on the part of Austria, Prussia and Russia, that if Republican France were left to prosper that the spirit of meritocracy and rule of law might spread and force changes in the continent's autocracies. He also put forth the argument that the British involvement was a sort of wag the dog ploy to divert attention from the recently fought Battle of New Orleans. I'll have to think about this some and see what sort of supporting and counter arguments for this thesis there are.

It has been brought to my attention that today's teenagers consider some of the old (1960s-1990s) production logos unsettling and scary.
These logos include the 1965 Screen Gems logo, 1978 Viacom logo and the 1989 DiC logo.

What is your opinion on this topic? Personally I don't find them scary, just retro.

Those hurricanes aren't easy to build, but how else can you launch sharks with frikkin' lasers?
