That's okay - the "camp hymn" for our Scout camp in central Wisconsin borrowed the tune of an old fraternity song for its tune. As a matter of fact, actor Mark Hamill's alma mater, Yokohama High School in Japan, uses the exact same tune for its school song as our Scout camp did!
I believe that the modern-day term for this would be "sampling" - just like the "My country, 'Tis of Thee" has completely different lyrics, while it shares the same melody with "God Save the Queen".
