How About That Weather, Huh? - 2014 Edition

Time to start a new weather thread, I see. Well, here goes:

It was zero degrees this morning when I set out for work. At quitting time, my dashboard temperature read-out said it was 10. Wow! A heat wave!*
I watched the temp dip into single digits as I drove home, though. It's supposed to go up to 26 tomorrow, with some snow showers in our area. By the weekend, it should go above freezing to 38 or 39. Just as well - my brother and I will be taking down our outdoor Christmas decorations on Saturday.

The rodent says it's 6 more weeks of winter for us. Happy Groundhog Day!

No matter what the rodent says, it's still winter here in Go City. After a low of -1 tonight, it's supposed to rebound to 21 tomorrow. Then on Tuesday we're due to get more snow, as much as 1-3" accumulation between then and Wednesday.
*sigh* I am so ready for spring....

Isn't it pretty much always winter up there? Last time I was in the area, we ended up wearing jackets, in the evening, the week of July 4.

Meanwhile, it's been raining like crazy, here, since at least 0530. Forescast to continue into tomorrow.

I don't know about July 4, but we have had our share of Junes where the temps were cool (last summer comes to mind). Of course, those cool spells were always followed by blistering heat - the kind that tries men's souls* and puts air conditioners to the test.

I can sympathize with campy's current sitch - we're forecast to get a "snowpocalypse" of our own, beginning tomorrow and continuing into Wednesday. We're supposed to get another 3-6 inches before this one's done.

    Winter - phooey!

The local tradition, when it looks like it might snow (or rain or pretty much any other heavy weather) appears to be to descend upon the local Food Lion and buy all the snack cakes, store brand mac and cheese, toilet paper, milk and cheap beer that one can. I frequently have visions of groups of people, after a power failure, huddled around burning rolls of toilet paper, trying to cook mac and cheese, in the dark, while drinking bad ber and eating snack cakes. Another of those things in the East that are taking some adjusting to.

I've never lived west of the Hudson and I'd sooner starve than eat store-brand mac+cheese with cheap beer.

Actually, I observed this, here, in the Auld Dumbinion, on the least coast.
