How About That Weather, Huh? - 2014 Edition

It got up to 28 degrees by us today. Actually felt warm, believe it or not.
It's actually supposed to warm up into the low to mid-30's by the end of the week, before cooling back down into the 20's.
Anything's better than sub-zero temps, let me tell you....

We had about 5-6 inches of the powdery white stuff here in the western 'burbs of Go City. At times it was coming down thick - you could barely see down the block. Thankfully, it's stopped now, and the system that produced it is moving off to the northeast. It's supposed to warm up into the mid- or upper 30's tomorrow; some of our snow will be melting off. Of course, there's the threat of flooding in some areas...

We had above-freezing temps out here today, so a lot of the snow has begun to melt. Unfortunately, they're calling for rain - possibly freezing rain - to start tonight, so we may encounter slippery road conditions tomorrow morning. Also, they're calling for gusty winds and even the chance of thunderstorms tomorrow as well, with a high in the fifties! Then things will cool off until we're back into the teens for daytime highs early next week.
Boy, talk about your "roller-coaster" weather patterns....

The crap TWD was talking about? It's hit here. And because of the snow build-up, the melting has resulted in several of our apartments getting flooded to some extent, all because of poorly laid out drainage. Fortunately it's not affecting most of my place, just the entryway and immediate area in the living room, but still...

I've got my brother-in-law over with the shop vac trying to clean this crap up.

Well, the affected carpet in my living room is still damp, but the standing water is gone now, although areas that were soggy are now iced over (thankfully the walkways have been cleared and salted).

As long as the precipitation stays away and there's a chance for this crap to melt naturally, I'll be satisfied. Another rain, though, and... I won't be happy, to say the least.
