Seven Lessons We learned from Disney’s Kim Possible

Disney has always come up with shows that portray strong characters. The channel has directed their shows aim at teenagers and youngsters. Many young people can relate to the Disney characters they have grown up with. Kim possible was one such show. Even though the show ended nine years ago but it was one of the longest running shows from Disney. The main character of the show, Kim Possible, was a strong female character. Many teenage girls can learn a lot from her.

7 Lessons from Kim Possible
Kim Possible broke the stereotype that you can’t be feminine and strong at the same time. Here are some great lessons that Kim Possible has left for our generation.

The Friendzone
The topic of friendship between a girl and a boy has been long since under debate. Many refuse to believe that both can be friends without any romantic emotions. Kim Possible broke this concept through Kim and her best friend Ron … well, to some extent. Eventually, both of them do get together but meanwhile, whenever Kim was dating someone else, they both remained best friends.

Gender Norms
Kim possible showed girls that it is okay if they don’t follow the typical gender norms created by the society for females. Kim possible was a cheerleader at her high school while she fought big bad villains the rest of the time.

It is Okay to be Confused
Kim Possible might have been an extraordinary hero but she still was a teenager. She still asked all the questions that normal teenagers ask. She felt normally confused like teenagers feel. She had all the high school troubles that teenagers do.

Technology Myths
Kim Possible had other strong supporting characters as well. wade was the technological nerd that helped Kim in fighting villains. Wade showed us that sitting all day long in front of the computer can actually save lives. Go Wade!

Parents to be Proud of
Many teenagers feel ashamed of being seen with their parents. Kim Possible taught us that parents were smart and they mattered. You might not have parents that were a pair of a rocket scientist and brain surgeon but your parents are smart and you owe them.


Guide your Siblings
Kim was extremely protective about her younger brothers. She took out time to guide them. it is okay to have siblings and it your duty to be kind to them.

Maths is not for Everybody
No matter how strong and heroic were the characters on the show, the math still got to them. the show taught us that it is okay if you don’t get this tough subject. You can’t be good at everything.

Kim Possible might have run in the early 2000s but it still remains a strong show today. Old time fans still follow reruns and some have continued the story with fan fiction. Kim Possible and all the other main characters on the show will keep inspiring for a long time to come.

Another lesson from KP:
Anyone can "step up to the plate" and be heroic.
Kim didn't always save the day throughout the show. There were several episodes in which Ron took the initiative when Kim could not (Sink Or Swim, The Fearless Ferret, Monkey Fist Strikes - to name just three) and, using the talents and skills he possessed, fought the bad guys and won. Thus, the show's writers sent the message that anyone, no matter who they are, has the potential to help out in a crisis. None of us realizes how strong we really are inside, until we need that strength. Then when it emerges, we're surprised at what we're able to accomplish with it.
This also helped keep the show from falling into a cliched formula where Kim was always the hero, and Ron was always the clumsy buffoon. It humanized Kim by showing she wasn't omnipotent or invincible; and did the same for Ron by displaying the inner strength he never knew he had.
