Took some leftover southwestern tortilla (low sodium) soup I made, browned some boneless pork chops, added peppers, onions, non-salt tomato sauce and diced tomatoes and the appropriate spices with brown rice and made it into a chili. Came out pretty good.

Is Portillo's a chain up there in Go City, TWD?

I had Thai food yesterday myself.

We got takeout from a local restaurant because it's Mrs. campy's birthday today. She had eggplant and I had rigatoni.

Yes, it is. It's mostly located in the Go City area, although they do have at least one store somewhere in Southern California - exactly where, I don't recall at present. Their main bill of fare consists of hamburgers, hot dogs, Polish sausages, Italian beef sandwiches - those sorts of foods. They've been around since the early 1960's.

This dish turned out so well that I added it to my recipe collection after the first effort. I made it for the 4th time this evening.

    Here's the recipe I use.

That's exactly what my parents always called it: Picadillo. It basically means "small bits of meat". My mother used eveything on the list, I'm sure, except she didn't use tomato sauce at all. The sweet and sour nature of the Picadillo came from the raisin and the olives. I'm going to have to make some of this myself. It's been too long.

And Happy Betated Birthday to Mrs. Campy, too.

Hey, TWD. If I'm ever in the Go City Area, I'll be on the lookout for that chain.

Tonight's dinner was pulled pork sandwiches from a local BBQ joint.
