I've started Sycamore Row by John Grisham. This 2013 novel continues the story of small-town Mississippi attorney Jake Brigance, who was the protagonist in A Time to Kill.

I'm now reading Our Sacred Honor, the 6th novel in the Luke Stone series by Jack Mars. Agent Stone is now having a romantic relationship with the first female president of the US, who before entering politics was a swimsuit model.

(In my personal headcanon for Jessica, I've given her several Swedish cousins. One of whom is a swimsuit model and another who is a politician on track to be prime minister someday — but even I never thought of combining the two!)

Moved on to A Time for Mercy (2020), John Grisham's 3rd novel about Mississippi attorney Jake Brigance. Jake defends a 16 year old boy accused of killing a deputy sheriff.

And another Grisham novel set in rural Mississippi: The Reckoning (2018). Why did a respected war hero and farmer murder a minister?

I am now reading The Hellfire Club by Jake Tapper. It's a murder mystery set in Washington DC in the 1950s.

I just started The Firm by John Grisham.

EDIT: It's funny reading old books. Among the fabulous perks that the titular firm used to entice the law student protagonist was a below-market-rate mortgage: a mere eight percent!

Still working on The Firm, but that's a dead-tree volume with very small print so I needed a kindle book for reading in bed last night. I started another legal thriller: The Last Trial by Scott Turow.

Now on to Early Morning Riser by Katherine Heiny. The Washington Post calls it "the funniest novel of the year."

    The Sanatorium by Sara Pearse.

"An eerie, atmospheric novel..." according to Reese Witherspoon.
