Did my laundry; mailed two letters; refilled a couple of prescriptions (one they got wrong, so I'll have to call & complain about it tomorrow); went to the store for stuff for dinner; things like that. Oh, and I got a job offer from one of my temp agencies. Had to update my resume & send them a copy, so we'll have to wait & see what happens.

Played a little APBA baseball. The 1951 New York Giants beat the 1951 Boston Braves 2-0 on a 2 run Bobby Thomson homer in the second. Both pitchers, Malkie for the Giants and Spahn for the Braves had good outings (except that 2nd inning for Spahn. Malkie pitched a one hitter and Spahn a four hitter (of course one of those hits was the home run). Great pitchers' duel--I miss those.

Not familiar with this Malkie fellow. Did you perhaps mean Sal "The Barber" Maglie?

The entry gate and right-field grandstand of the old Braves Field can still be seen in Boston. They're part of Boston U's main athletic field.

You're right! My mistake. It was Maglie.

My niece and her boyfriend just got back from their vacation in Boston and had a great time taking in all the sights and a game at Fenway. The last time I was in New England was the late 90s when I delivered a paper at a conference being held at UConn. Pretty campus and great scenery once I got into the interior of the state.

Poor Sal. Had a pretty good start for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series one Monday afternoon, but lost because the other guy threw a perfect game.

Good news! The antibiotics I've been taking to treat my diverticulitis have been giving me a nasty case of nausea & mild diarrhea, so I called my doctor and got the news that I can stop taking those now. That means this long-term queasiness I've been dealing with will soon cease, which will make me a lot happier. Also, the day before yesterday I got a letter confirming that my request for financial assistance in paying the bill for my hospital stay from June 11-15 was granted. The amount I owe? $0. God bless whatever charity picked up the tab for me!
Now, if I could only find a job.....
