Power's back and spent some time catching up on grading papers and readjusting assignments that were due last week--I'm pushing them back a week due to the storm. Looking forward to getting back to writing. I was kind of surprised at how quickly they got the power back up--I expected it to be out for about a week, so kudos to Duke Energy.

Smoothiung out relations with local specialists in our area so I can get the patients in my center seen. They can be a challenge. Dealing wiht maddening and nonsense rules from the government on documentation and meetings. I shouldn't complain. I knew what I was getting into. But dang, it's a pain in the áss.

This morning I managed to get my 6 Google Nest smoke & CO alarms to connect to the new home wifi network. Now they can communicate with each other again.

It was a much more difficult process than it should have been, imo. I ended up having to drag the big ladder in and pull them all off the ceiling, after resetting them to factory default and deleting them from the phone app.

This afternoon we'll be going to the grand re-opening event at our favorite local wines & spirits shop.

Sounds like fun, campy. I used to enjoy sampling wines and imported beers and going to some local English and Irish pubs in my area. At one time, I had a nice wine collection--really loved a good Bordeaux and for whites, I liked Moselle. Also used to love a good English ale and there was an Italian beer I liked, I can't remember the name though. I had to quit drinking though when my heart started acting up. Now, it's the occasional taste and that's about it.

A quiet day at home today. This morning I removed a link from the bracelet of my 50-year-old Seiko watch to make it fit my wrist better.

Visiting with my 86 y/o stepmother. Her memory is not good anymore, and she rarely leaves the house anymore. I bring her a hamburger and we watch animated movies on the DVD player. I try to do that each weekend.

I went to the farm for eggs this morning. And I've just finished cellaring the wine delivery we received from our Sonoma County winery club.

Grocery shopping at Aldis and made an appt. with my electrocardiologist. Touched base with my students to make sure they were okay and graded some assignments.

I made a trip out with stops at the library, the pet food store, the grocery store, and the pharmacy for a shingles vaccination. Now I'm home.

Staying home today, but we'll probably go out to dinner tonight.
