Honored Elder
Symphony No. 5 by Ludwig Van Beethoven, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the leadership of Carlos Kliber, strangely in my mind only No. 36 on the SiriusXM countdown of the 76 greatest classical pieces ever written. I have always ranked it No. 1, even above the Ninth Symphony. To me, it is Crystal Perfection.
This was followed at No. 29 on the list by "Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", by Antonin Dvorak, performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Marin Allsop.
