Piano Concerto #20 by W. A. Mozart, played by Mitsuko Uchida, leading the New Philharmonia Orchestra. Mitsuko Uchida is an internationally known concerft pianist who is especially famous for her interpreation of Mozart. This particular concerto is famous for the second movement which has the most delicate and wonderful melody, so much so that when he premiered it, the audience was completely awed and applauded so much in demand that he had to repeat it to satisfy them. He had to play the second movement three times before he was allowed to finish the concerto.

I was listening to the Mass #3 by Anton Bruckner on the plane this afternoon, but I stopped because the battery in my noise-cancelling headphones died after 28 hours of use this week. I’ll finish on the flight to Cairns after dinner.

Beethoven wrote 16 string quartets, 32 piano sonatas, 9 symphonies, 1 opera, 1 violin concerto, and 5 piano concertos.

Last night before I went to bed, I listened to Barry Manilow's 1989 "Live On Broadway" concert CD. It's one of my favorites, because it was recorded at the Chicago Theater on Dec. 2 and 3 of that year. I went to see the show that weekend, so every time I play that disc, I think about how I was in the audience while the album was being recorded.

Last thing I listened to yesterday was Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. Vladimir Ashkenazy was the conductor.
