While driving home from NYC this morning I listened to several more selections from my music library including the Symphony No. 9 in E minor, op. 95, "From the New World" by Antonín Dvořák, in the recording by Fritz Reiner with the Chicago Symphony. Recorded in 1957, this is still considered one of the best-ever performances of this often-recorded work.

I have to find that performance by Reiner and the CSO as that is one of my most favorite symphonies. The second movement drives me to tears with its beauty. Most recently though it was Violin Concerto #1 by WA Mozart, performed by Rachel Barton Pine, supported by the Academy of Saint Martin-in-the-Fields and led by Sir Neville Mariner.
